The Alfa company (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili) born in 1910 from the industrial complex created in 1907 at Portello di Milano
by the French Alexandre Darracq.
Until 1915, Alfa produces series that makes the brand a major player
on the Italian market and are distinguished by their road manners.
The 24 HP, first car on the market place which appears from 1910,
stands out for its handling and speed.
1915 marks the arrival of Nicola Romeo
who takes a strong participation in the capital of Alfa
and converts the production to the imperatives of the war.
The construction of the cars will only restart on 1920 with the 20-30 HP
Then follows some financial troubles, then everything return in order
thanks to the victories in competition
and
to the notoriety gained at the international level.
A myth is born!
In the 50’s, the brand launch two models who will irremediably mark his history: the Alfa Romeo 1900 and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
It is a real success and the company continues on that way
with the Alfa Romeo Giulia which remains in production for over ten years.
The four-leaf clover brand also imposes herself in competition
with different victories in Formula 1 (Juan Manuel Fangio with the Alfetta 158 in 1950…) and in prototype sport (with the famous 33 Stardale).
Then, like all the global manufacturers,
the company is affected by the first oil shock,
which not stop the brand to launch in 1972 a new model:
the Alfa Romeo Alfetta who will be on sale until 1992.
But despite the success of these models,
the company does not enjoy substantial financial resources.
Management is replaced with the arrival of Ettore Masaccesi in 1978.
In 1985, the brand whish his 75 years of existence and on this occasion, introduce a new model, the Alfa Romeo 75 (the last powered car).
Loved by the real “Alfistes” she is often defined as “the last real Alfa”.
And it's in 1986 that the manufacturer Alfa Romeo is redeemed by
Fiat Company who will joins the brand to Lancia in order to create
the Alfa Lancia Industriale Company.
So the brand goes ahead definitely with the traction and still wins
some success thanks to the Alfa 156 (1997) and the Alfa 147 (2001).
In October 2007, it is the output of the limited series (500 copies)
of the great sporty Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.
To resume, the brand Alfa Romeo has strongly proof and still proof
that she knows how to create smart, reliable, sporty, powerful and sophisticate cars…
